It was a tight race, but Humber's women's basketball team became national champions with their 50-49 win over the Holland Hurricanes. Saturday's victory gave the team its first-ever CCAA national title.
Veteran Ruth Holland was named Humber Player of the Game for her buzzer-beating three pointer which won the team the game.
Jill Semple was selected as a First Team Championship All Star and CeeJay Nofuente was the Championship MVP.
Not only is this the first CCAA National title and medal for the team, it is the first national championship win ever by any OCAA women's team in soccer, basketball and volleyball.
Humber completed a perfect season, going 18-0 in regular season play, 3-0 in the OCAA playoffs and 3-0 at nationals.
Play in Alberta on Saturday, the men's basketball team was named the 2016 CCAA silver medallists. Veteran Ancil Martin was the Humber Player of the Game.
