Humber men's and women's basketball teams win provincial championships

It's been a great week for Humber's basketball teams.

Humber's men's basketball team has won the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championship yesterday with an 86-79 victory over Mohawk.

Top players included Tyrone Dickson, with 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Gibson Eduful, with 15 points and 10 assists. 

Freshman C.J. Bennett won Hawks Nation Player of the Game with a game high of 19 points. Other awards included a Tournament All-Star nod for Eduful, and Tournament MVP for Dickson.

The women's basketball team also had a banner weekend, winning the OCAA championship 71-43 against the Mohawk Mountaineers.

Ceejay Nofuente, the OCAA player of the year, finished with 18 points, five rebounds, six assists and five steals and was named Tournament MVP after leading the team in scoring.

OCAA all-star Llyandra Kerr was named championship player of the game after ending with 14 points and a season-high 17 rebounds. The fifth-year forward was named a tournament all-star, as was rookie Felicia Velasquez after leading the team in assists.
